A Hint of Pattern

My parents were in town this weekend, as were Mr. Original's parents. The parents met for the first time. It was exciting and nerve-wracking all at once. Now, it's quiet ... painfully quiet. I am alone in my cupboard, slurping my second cup of coffee, and wishing I knew where to begin today, and how.

The fabric above is a batik my parents bought for me some months ago in Curacao. It's actually Indonesian. And so gorgeous, I don't know if I can bear to turn it into anything else {because that would involve taking a scissors to it}. For now, I'll just unfold and refold it, and maybe trace the designs with my fingertips.

We'll chat about the bottom photo very soon, but first, I think I need to slurp a bit more.

  1. Oooohhh...parents meeting parents. That's a big one! You'll probably need a couple more cups of coffee before your brain has settled down completely.

  2. Glad the parent meeting went well..

You can make a pillow with it. You don't even have to cut it if it's not too big. Just fold it in half and sew up the other 3 sides and stuff.

  3. Rachel: Indeed! Maybe a couple days of cups of coffee ... :)

Kittylou: Great idea! I may wind up doing just that ...

  4. Yay! That must have been wonderful! I can even imagine the complicity looks between you two ;) !
And that batik is gorgeous. It carries a mistery in that intricate pattern...

  5. Dia: It was pretty wonderful. A touch stressful at points, but a great weekend nonetheless. Mr. Original and I definitely shot each other all kinds of looks over dinner {lots of winks, especially}. I'm glad you're back ... not that you were gone long, but I missed you :)
