You will need 3 or 4 ripe bananas {I like 4}, smashed; 1/3 cup melted butter; 3/4 cup sugar; 1 egg, beaten; 1 tsp. vanilla; 1 tsp. baking soda; a pinch of salt; 1 1/2 cups flour {I don't level off, and sometimes, I don't even do a full 1 1/2 ... to keep it moist}.
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
2. Mix melted butter into mashed bananas
3. Mix in sugar, egg, and vanilla
4. Sprinkle in baking soda and salt
5. Add flour last
6. Pour into a buttered 4 x 8" loaf pan
7. Bake one hour
Report back, sweet friends.
P.S. Mr. Original always likes to throw in some chopped up chocolate. You might try it.
pillow mints--what a fabulous way to describe comments. again, your creativity floors me. to do list: think of something fabulous to describe comments. oh yeah, and I love banana bread and you!
ReplyDeleteBanana bread is my fave. What do you think about walnuts? I like walnuts.
ReplyDeleteMeg: Thank you. You're so sweet and lovely.
ReplyDeleteP: I can't stop with the banana bread. It's like I finish one loaf, and begin another. I've never met a walnut I didn't like, so I'll try tossing them in, too. See what happens.
this sounds sooooo good! my local bakery makes pumpkin bread with chunks (big ones!) of chocolate. it's amazing. i've never had banana bread with chocolate, but it sounds equally awesome. Someday when I have time, I'll come back to this post and make it! Maybe next weekend :)
ReplyDeleteBrittany Noel: You're giving me ideas! Maybe, for the next loaf, we won't chop the chocolate too small ... we'll keep it chunky. That could be reeeeally good.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I make banana bread a lot but never with chocolate. Genius idea. Will make at end of week. Have a great Monday
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this! Reading the post made me hungry :))
ReplyDeleteP.S.-It seems that I'm in the mood for commenting this morning :p I hope you have a quiet night and a lovely day following.
Dia: I love your comments! Thank you so much for always popping in and saying something kind. Let me know how the banana bread turns out.
ReplyDeleteBanana bread with semi-sweet chocolate chips, so so good..
ReplyDeleteInstead of all butter I put half apple sauce and half butter. It's a healthier option and tastes just as good. Your recipe is a little different then mine but experimenting is always fun.
