About Postcards, Part II

An early start today because of a new job that gets me up and out as the sun rises. The world is so different at seven in the morning ... I like it.

These are three postcards I picked out because of the messages written on them. Click on the photos to enlarge.

My heart is a little broken over that last one, a line of which reads: "By the way, _save this_ card for me and later I'll keep it for a memory." The cadence is lovely, as is the sentiment. Beautiful things sometimes make me inexplicably sad.

P.S. You'll notice these postcards are in plastic box frames ... I'm beginning to hang them in my cupboard.

  1. too cute...1938, 1939, 1970. Wonder if Becky Eddy is still around? I guess not or she probably wouldnt have thrown that last postcard away. Love the secret code penpal too.

dont think me obsessed...but I think i tracked down Baxton Cook Jr (the penpal) on google. extra sweet.

  3. Screamish: You are *too* funny. I love that you googled Baxton Cook Jr.! I got your email and was tickled pink. How awesome. Plus, I love their secret penpals, and yet, they're using funny little postcards to communicate.

Jessica: Hello! I think I'm hanging them to the right of my book cupboard, down that narrow strip of wall. Any other suggestions?

  6. This is a great idea. Whenever we go to a store that has old postcards I just look at the fronts to find some place I've been before. I never even turn them over to see who wrote on them.

  7. Meg: Glad I'm not the only one ... I think we're just hopeless romantics.

G: Thanks so much! As you know, I'm quite an admirer of yours. Enjoy your weekend, too :)

Kittylou: I was doing that for a while, but then I got curious about all the stories on the other sides, so I flipped them over ... and now, that's all I look at, really.
